You never removed the old race, but you got new races? Does that mean you didnt use the new race, just new bearing and seal? I must be an idiot at this point if i cant understand what your saying.

lol sorry if can explain things well. Pretty much i took off the old rotor which had the old races and bearings in and threw it in the trash. I took my new rotors and i purchased new races and bearings for the inner and outter and pressed the new races in to the new rotor.

GOTCHA! I just got new inner/outter bearings/races... The dude at the counter pretty much spelled it out for me, and I get it.. You dont necessarily need the bearing press, but something like a socket that will go around the outside of the race to hammer in. With quattro, the whole hub needs to be taken out and have the bearings pressed out... So i got new bearings and races and grease.. He said i could probably use the old seals if i was careful. He said the old bearings/races will pretty much come out with ease. Thanks for all your help and sorry for all the confusion.... The bearing DOES go into the rotor I found out so thats cool.. Let yall know how it goes.

Man they told you the ghetto way there with the socket over the race, if you rent the tool you get your money back if you return it. Now thinking about it you are going to need a huge socket, probablly in the 30mm range to do it that way for the inner. Good luck the most anoying part of this job is all the damn grease, it sucks.

Yeah it is kind of ghetto, but I can imagine how it would work if done carefuly.. The bearing press they did not have at autozone, the guy acted like he'd never seen one.. But, he was very knowlegable of Audi/VW. Talking to me about timing belts and turbo's, he knew his stuff it seemed so i took his word.. He said he just put a fmic on an 01 a4, replaced his g/f's rear wheel bearings on her gti, and he drives a jetta... So, both races need to be pressed into the rotor right? Not just the inner?? I was matching up the races to the new rotors and they dont slide in, they go in a little, but seem to need to be "pressed" in, which makes sense, i just dont want the race to bend.
Oh yeah, he said he used a 36 mm socket i think... Which i dont have.. So, back to autozone in the morning!

You have FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. I believe the rear bearings are not pressed.

The bearings aren't pressed but the races are which the bearing sits inside.

Yes both inner and outter races have to be pressed, goto napa or another parts store and see if they have the tool it will be alot easier.
