Default rebuilt block and brand new head

i finally get my car back from the dealer tomorrow. they rebuilt the block and got a brand new head from audi and it didnt cost me a thing since it threw a rod three days after i bought it. i cant wait to drive it!!!

that sucks that happened only 3 days after you baught it, but its deffinatly sick that they did that free for you! have fun with the car man!

Yeah, that's amazing! Just wondering, did they say what caused the destruction exactly (i.e. ran too lean, etc.)?

Yes now you dont have to worry about anything really for along time, you get a brandnew engine lucky b@#$%^d and how many miles were there b4 it happened

I'm curious as to how exactly audi "rebuilt" the block... usually when you throw a rod, it tends to go through the side of the block, making a bigass hole. I'm not certain, but I'd be willing to bet that when that happens, it's scrap. I suppose they probably found a used block, and had the crank journals line bored, as well as honing or overboring the cylinders.

congratulations on getting audi to cough up some cash.

^ like he said, no big hole means you didnt throw a rod. You could of snapped/cracked one or spun the bearing.
