Default Refrigerant oil

My A/C is not that cold, I need to add some R-134a to the A/C system, but I do not want to evacuate the system. Should I add plain R134a or mix of R-134a and oil?

normally, the 134a you get from the auto store will have a little bit of oil in it. Other than that, unless you evac it, you dont need to add oil.

I only see two types of R-134a cans, one contains about 20% oil, the other is pure R-134a. 20% is proportion of oil in refrigerant as stated in the service manual. Should I go with the can with 20% oil?

As just replacement with no evacuation, yes.

I just a got 98 Quattro A4 2.8, love the car. Everything is great and working properly but for my own knowledge did the 98 require R134a or were they still using R12 in those years.

Thanks in advance
