Default Remote start

Alrighty then,

Im going to atempt to fit a remote start next weekend and im planning in advance for it. Im looking on ebay (as cheap as possible) and i dont want the alarm just the remote start bit. Is it possible to fit the romote start bit around my current alarm system. I have '98 2.8 V6 (B5 is it?)

Im not even sure if my current alarm works and im not too bothered so if i can bypass it that would be cool. I thought there may be problems starting the car when it is locked as there may be some security code or something?

Also (im not afraid to ask stupid questions) do i still put the key in the ignition? If it turn it would it crank the starter causing issues?

It is a manual but i know the risks. I always just jump in and start my car without checking cos i know its in neutral. Mainly want it for a warm start as the winter is comming. With the handbrake on surely it would just jump and stall anyway?

The way most remote start systems work is around the alarm and it should be no problem around your audi alarm but if your car is manual, not all shops will install it for you and be aware that it includes disabling the mechanism that makes you hold the clutch down to start your car. Also you will have to put the key in the ignition after you get in the car, you would just put the key in and turn it to the on position, not all the way to start. If you try to put it in drive or first gear without the key in it will probably shut off with most systems for security purposes.

I was going to have a crack at the install myself. Can the remote start be bought without the alarms anywhere? I dont have that clutch down to start thing.

Know whats funny about what you just said? I've had my car for almost a year now. I have never had to push the clutch in to start my car (a '96A4M). All my friends have to in their manual cars. i always thought that my car should have to do that, being an audi and all. does my car come like that or did someone disable sumthing?
