Okay so i had started the job and man it looks like a very very long and hard job. I see some posts people say you dont have to raise the engine to pull out the lower pan and i cant understand how you would get it past the crossmemer? If there is any1 that can help me by telling me how to go about removing the oil pan on my 99 A4 1.8T this would be great

I dont think its possible to take it off without raising the engine. If you dont have a hoist then a jack under the engine or transfer case.

 

The easiest way would be to raise the eng a little bit and lower the front of the subframe.
