Default Removing the Center Armrest

Hi the leather on my center arm rest of my 2000 a4 1.8t quattro is falling off I want to remove the armrest to repair it but have no idea how. My car is in Mint condition other then this extremely annoying eye sore plz help. By the way, just got a carbon fiber dash trim kit, and it looks fantastic I highly recommend others try it.

if you look at the rod that goes into the side of the seat it should have a grub screw/allen bolt

How do you mean, exactly where is this locted. I notice that if I pull out the ashtray in the back there are some bolts there but after undoing them they dont allow me to remove the arm rest. I popped of the plastic caps on the side of the hing and had no idea what to do there. Can you please be a bit mor specific.

Thanks for helping
