Default Removing scratch on paint

Hello all,

Basically I have a little scratch on the side of my car.

I don't think it's a deep scartch but I would like to remove it since it's sort of pissing me off.

Does any of you have done this before? I heard of Meguiar's Scartch X. Does this work?

Thanks in advance for any tips/suggestions.

You might be able to get away with buffing it out. I have no experience with Meguiar's Scratch X though.

use some kind of buffing cream that has very fine sand in it. it will polish the area while taking off the top of the scratch and evening things out. i got some stuff like that from pepboys forgot the name i think 3m made it though.

Is it only in the clear coat or all the way to the basecoat? If only in the clear coat, you could do some wet sanding with 2000 grit sandpaper, then use some rubbing compound, swirl remover, hand glaze, and final glaze (all 3M products). I can pretty much assure you that if you take your time, it will become virtually invisible.

You can get a touch-up pen from the dealer ( or other pen) and paint that over, if it is just a scratch. Or ask any local bodyshop.

Thanks all for the suggestions and comments.

I bought my self the Meguiar's Scratch X and unfortunately it did not work as I have a much deeper scratch than I thought.

I will however, try audiprotein's suggestion on getting the touch up pen.

Will it look different if I don't get it from the dealer? By different, I mean will the color match? (I have silver)

Thanks once again.

Check with the dealer. They don't carry all colors. Their paints
use brushes. The clear coat is a pen.

Meguiar's Scratch X is ok for little scrapes but if you can see the under coat it too deep so touch up will be required, the trick is to use one hair off the brush topaint in the scratch and keep putting paint in till its full ( the scratch only ) I use a magnetic magnifying glass to see the scratch better so as not to get it on the good paint work then use the Meguiar's Scratch X to complete the job,

take your time and you get better results
I now use and air brush like the one chip foose uses the results are awsome
