I need to replace the rear view mirror for my 2001 A4 1.8T Quattro.

I've found a lot of stuff on ebay, one in particular for a 2002 A4, along with install instructions.

How do I figure out if this fits my car?

What is the b4 or b5 that people are referring to after the A4 model designation? How do I find out what specific model my car is?

Does anyone have any other suggestions on a replacement, a gentex aftermarket mirror?

Does the sensor on the interior mirror effect the dimming of the exterior mirrors?

Answers to any and all of these questions GREATLY APPRECIATED. Sorry for the long laundry list...

You have a B5. 2002 was the beginning of the B6 model line. I'm sure you could make that mirror work, but I don't know if it would be easily done or if it would involve rewiring...I don't know what the connectors look like. If you're not looking for a project, you'd be better off finding a mirror from a B5, but I don't think I've ever seen one with a compass. I think the auto-dim rear view mirror came on 1999.5+ B5s.

 

I dont know about the auto dimmer on the 1999.5 because its not on mine. Unless it was another package but I seem to have all the package except the trip computer. Ummm.. maybe I will look into it and post back. BUt if push comes to shove check the classified section everyday someone is parting out a car.
