REPLACE OIL PAN OR HELI-COIL?
So i have just been having horrible car luck... first my friend jumped my car wrong and fried my amp, and i just found out that the place that did not oil change messed up the threading on the oil pan. So i am stuck in the position of either getting a new oil pan, or heli-coiling my existing one. I am wondering what are the pros and cons of each? Also, are there any cost differences?? I already tried to contact the owner of the shop to have them fix it but they said that since another party looked at my oil pan after them, that they are no longer liable.... basically, i got screwed over and now i just want to fix my car as cheap as possible any help would be much appreciated
thanks

So they cross threaded the drain plug? I would drill it out and retap it or helicoil it. No point in getting a new pan. There is a big cost difference there.
Who looked at the pan after the first shop touched it and messed it up?

Adam

very common problem and to solve cheaply just re-thread it and use a bigger plug ( its only alloy ) so easy to thread,
its hard to get the garage to admit it was there fault because you left the premises and it was ok so they could say you did it
