I have the same trouble with my 96 a6 wagon. it only happens in the cold. once the car warms up no more noise.
I did not get a code from it. what exactly does this pump do?

most guys that don't have them just run a breather filter off the combi valve that is what I am going to be doing come spring

I'm still running without mine. I was planning on getting it relocated, but I honestly don't care.
Do you know anyone that has done the combination valve/breather filter mod? I'd also like to see some pics.

from what i understand it pumps O2 into the exhaust so it is better on emissions, how i donk know but i have a2000 and i think mine is bad to, i have cel but i dont know what from but im geting a vag com soon
