I was wondering if anyone could give me some advise on how to reset the oil change light that comes on when u start the car. It flash for like a min or two and then goes away. I bought my car used and don't feel like taking it to a audi dealer and paying for them to service it. any help is better then nothing.

 

i think we have to get ours vaged. you can try this but i don't think it works for 96-97. i may be wrong though.

 

correct 1996 and 1997 models need a vag-com/obd tool to remove the warning.

Hi i'm newbie here and i need help !!!

Im in the same problem the OIL LIGHT comes on in place of my odometer trip, i bought this car like a month ago, and since that day i been replace a copule things like the Timing Belt,Tensioners, Serpentine Belt, Water Pump and of course the motor oil...so here is my first dum cuestion>>What is vag-com/obd tool ?? and the second cuestion What would hapen if i keep running the car the way it is???

Wait are you saying you have already replaced timing belt? As far as the vagcom, check out http://www.ross-tech.com. What year do you have?

My Car is an A4 1997 2.8 12 valves, i'm really like this car and yes i'm replaced the timing belt coz' the milage (105,000) , like i said i been owned this car for a month and after the first week the water pump quit!, so i went with the local shop and they recommend me to change the other stuff(Timing bel,tensioners, serpentine belt) so i did that!

you have to use the vag-com tool or take it to a shop and they can reset it for you...it's not a big deal though, it's set to automatically turn on, it doesn't mean anything is wrong...it should only do it for about 10-15 seconds, then it should go back to your odometer..
