rough idle
Hello all,
I just bought a 97 a4 1.8 turbo awd. Everything was running fine and then I was just sitting in the car with it running and it just started idleing rough. The check engine light came on and then it stalled. Are a4s' notorious for anything weird? I remember reading about something that made them idle rough but I cant remember what. It has 100,000 miles on it. I would really appreciate any suggestions/info. Thanks
Jon

My car had a similar problem last summer. Turned out to be a MAF. Best to get the car VAG-ed.
You might try disconnecting the battery, reconnect it, then turn the key part way. Do not start the engine for three minutes.
This sets the throttle body. It might idle then. You'll still have to fix the problem.
