RPM surge when shifting
Hey everyone. I bought a 2003 Audi A4 1.8T quattro 5 speed about one month ago. I noticed that when I punch it from a start and shift at high RPMS (around 5,000 rpm) and depress the clutch, the RPMS surge about another 500 RPMS before I shift into the next gear. It does this from 1st to 2nd and again from 2nd to 3rd. It's not like I keep my food on the gas when I depress the clutch... my food is completely off the gas and the engine still surges. I don't know if that is a normal. What do you guys think?

it just might be that your foot isn't completely off the gas pedal when you press the clutch down. i mean 500rpms isn't a lot of revving. so as you press the clutch, your right foot is probably not completely off the pedal causing your surge problem.
Hano.. I make sure my foot is completely off the gas when i press the clutch. That's why I didn't think it was normal for the engine to rev a little when I press down the clutch. From your post I gather it is not normal for the engine to rev when I press the clutch. Any idea why it the car is doing that?
