Rumor overheard??
My friend recently told me that a dealer told him he could do anything on an Audi/VW in terms of modding and you wont lose your warranty as long as you dont touch your ECU. For some reason i have a hard time believing this. Is there truth to this??? Thanx

Lies all Lies I tell you!!
to tell the truth it depends on the dealer...some warranty modded cars, others like the one I worked for saw an exhaust or intake and would void the warranty. We wouldnt even look into unless they were a cash customer, even if the parts had no effect on the broken part.
Its an act passed saying dealers can void warranty work if the car is modified, well if the part affects said stock covered part I believe.

RE: Rumor overheard??
it protects the people from bs warranty voiding... you may need a lawyer to argue your warranty back after the dealer voids it, which sucks, but it needs to be proven "beyond the shadow of a doubt" that what you did caused the damage.
