Default Running a FMIC

Have a ? about doing a FMIC can you run one with say a apr chip and exhuast on stock turbo or will it really not do much. If you cant could some one explain why not and if you can would you see any gains from it thanks.

I think one of the problems of running a fmic on a small turbo like the k03 is that you loose a few psi but your intake temps do drop which is good, you might see some gain but not a huge amount. If you live somewhere in the south where it's hotter for longer it would be more useful. Personally I think the stock smic does a decent job with basic mods like chip, exhaust, intake ect. If you start doing mods like big turbo or serious mods on stock turbo a fmic would be needed. Overall it's a good upgrade over smic but if your not going BT there are other things that should be done first.

ya thats pretty much true. It is good to have if you live in a hot place especially during the summer, in Socal my throttle body tube that comes off the side mount gets really damn hot during the summer after i drive for awhile, after i get my chip situated im going to do a FMIC.

well you will only loose about .5 to 1 full psi if you are running it at 15-20 psi and if you are running closer to 30 then you can expect to see a drop from 1-3 psi. The reason you run FMIC is to allow more time before you get heatsoak. You will notice this once you are chipped. if you run it hard a couple of timems you will notice it a slower on the last time than the first, this is casued by heat soak. The FMIC is supposed to eliminate this, and generally does a pretty good job of it.

on the k03 turbo, you'll want to use 2.25" piping over 2.5" though if you get a FMIC.

pressure drop depends on the piping and core size. 2.25 piping will be good for your k03 setup and only cause a slight drop in psi, which can be easily remedied with a mbc. you will see decent gains, but nothing that great. it will definitely help with heatsoak tho.

or you could just upgrade your smic, or add water/meth. either of which will be just as good as a fmic for your setup
