Fairenough. Mabey I am just a blue-eyed dreamer, but I like your argument better. As it happens, the engines ive seen were (supposedly) from low milage cars, and they did include ecus. Im sure your right that you would never really know all that has to be replaced untill the job was done. Transmission is a biggey, and I have to admit I have no idea how much of it, if any, is commen to my a4.

hardly any.
mounts, suspension, DRIVETRAIN are all different.
same frame, same interior layout... same exterior except for the bumpers and sideskirts. other than that... completly different cars.

Here's some info relating to the transmission alone.
Parts needed:
6 speed trans
linkage & stabilizer bars
center shaft
rear dif
left & right trans mounts & brackets(left one will need fabrication)
either A4 rear dif flanges, or S4 1/2 shafts

To eliminate the fabrication to the left trans mount, you could either install an S4 front subframe, or weld on a bracket to the A4 subframe to fit with the S4 left trans mount(which I intend to do soon - better IMO).

I guess so. And looking at it from another point of view, I could buy a supercharger kit, and have a car thats faster than an s4. Plus I could remove it when it comes to selling

I didnt say I could catch an rs4, but an s4(?)

http://www.carfolio.com/specificatio...s/id/?id=21780

Besides, it would take me twice as long to stop compared with an s4.

lol, i stated the hp ratings of the 4.2 S4, wasn't talking about the RS4... *Ahem*

yeah, sure you could catch it after the SC... but taht SC is 4K. now you're sitting at a mere $500 from the S4. now we have the S4 suspension, the 6sp tranny, even those amazing sideskirts. and oh... the badge that badge itself is worth $500 IMO

Out of interest, have you ever seen one of those sc kits go second hand?
