Is secondary air pump an emissions device
covered under the emissions warranty???? Isn't the warranty on emissions devices longer (like 7 years, etc.)? My daughter just bought an 03 A4 Cab 3.0 w/58K and I notice a lot of whooshing noise (for lack of a better description) at startup for about a minute. After reading a few posts here, it sounds exactly like what people are describing as the secondary air pump which sends air to the cats. If that's the case, and it's a covered item under an emissions warranty, I'd like her to get it checked out. Otherwise, I guess we'll just wait for it to go bad. What is the life expectancy for this component?
Yes it is an emissions device and it is federal law that car manufactures have to warranty all emissions components untill 80000 miles take it to the dealer and have them check it out.
