Default service INSP message

Every time I start my car I get a message on the trip odometer that says 'service INSP'. I had notes for resetting the oil message from when I changed that and when I start with the odo button pulled out it says OIL. I checked and was a quart low so I added but the light still is on. I'm just over 56,000 miles ... is it time for a service checkup?

I looked at the owners manual and it was pretty vague about this message. I'm getting ready to sell it and want to make sure everything is cool before I advertise it.

Thanks - Bryan

It's just a service reminder. You can permanently delete it (until the mileage trips it again - I think at another 10K or so) but its a diff process for certain models. You have to use the small dash gauge *****/sticks.

If the car is a 98-up push and hold the button on the right in the gauge cluster. Turn key on. Let go of right button, and pull left button and let go. Display should show "---", now push button on right in again. Display should show INSP,now pull and let go of the button on the left.Turn key off. Cycle key back on. Odometer should no longer display the reminder.

Man, it took me a dozen tries to get that to work, but eventually I got it.

Thanks brrman. I'm going to go try that. I pushed and pulled those but never in the order you described!
