Today i opened my hood after coming home from school and i notice smoke coming from the pass. side rear of the motor. There is a plastice loom looking hose that is cracked coming from the valve cover. has oil fresh oil all over it and dripping on the exhaust. What is that hose and how easy/hard is it to replace?

 

Where is the oil coming from? Don't drive you car with oil dripping on the exhaust. Unless you want the oil to catch fire and have you car destroyed.

i think its a pcv valve.

 

Did you take the engine cover off when you were poking around? If you can, post a pic of where it's leaking from.

 

That is crazy because I just got the exact same problem today. Got out of the car and I could smell oil burning. Looked under the hood and could see smoke coming from the cat. A drop of oil dripped onto the cat and was burning. I looked on the side of the engine and it seemed like it may have come from the valve gasket. But if it was that it would leak all the time and that was the only drip of oil I got all day, so I dont know. Is your car a B6? If so did you get a recall notice about some rubber hose that breaks apart?

mine did that after a mountain run... I was running it pretty hard tho... I remember there was smoke like you just explained... But no visible leak or anything... It has never happened sense... I remember some guy on audiworld did it too when I posted over there

 

like i said i think its a pcv valve but im not 100%
