Default Snub Mount and shifter

I have a little bit of clunk and play with my drive train. I have read in some other forums that a new snub mount will solve theproblem-i have no idea what that even is. Is there another name for it? Also I would like to put a new Short throw shifter in there b/c of all the play that I feel I have with the stock shifter. The weird thing is that the shifter that is in there now can be pushed down and pulled up. Is the normal? It shifts smooth as silk, just more play than I like.

Well the snub mount is a PITA to install for just a $20-$50 part. You gotta pull the whole front bumper of to access it. The snub mount that you probablly have read about is the front engine mounts which pretty much reduce the driveline shock. Pure ms makes one for like $30 and Apr makes one for $50. Also the AWE DTS will help alot more than the snub mount, but that is around $350 but is very easy to install. Yeah your car is pre 99.5 with a push down reverse, i have a 99 and have upgraded to the v&s SS that eliminates the pushdown and is highly reccomended and is fairly cheap. I paid $145 and it was my first mod to my car. There is a piece in the shifter assembly that can be replcaed i forget what it is called but it is pretty much the shifter ball housing which is plastic and wears down and expands from shifting everyday. Most SS have an over sized ball to get rid of the slop. You can buy a new housing thing at the dealership for 80-90 bucks, kinda steep but thats where alot of the slop can be fixed.

What is an awe dts? Thanks for all the shifter information. Is the B&M shifter I see on eBay the best one? Is is twice the price of the others, but I don't mind paying the extra$$ if it is better. I don't want to just throw a cheap one on there if its not going to be of quality. I am going to replace the bumper anyways however to an RS4 bumper I think, so the snub mount, I wont mind replacing. The other part, AWE DTS, what in the heck is that and what does it do? If it is better than a snubmount, I might do that as well, but I need to know what exactly it does. Lastly, so what you are saying is that the Snubmount is basically an engine mount? Thanks for all your help

AWE Drive Train Stabilizer

It's basically a tunnel brace the bolts to your transmission. The stock piece is thin steel and flexes easily. There's a review on the DTS link above also. I have one and love it. It makes a world of difference.

*edit*- I also have the B&M shifter. The combination of the 2 makes a very nice combination.
*edit2*- I do not have push down though

V&S is awsome, when i bought mine i got it on a group buy and the reviews were amazing. People that were buying them in the group buy were switching from either b&m, neuspeed, and stratmophere. It has the most throw reduction, 43% to be exact, oversized pivot ball, 3/4" shorter than stock and is made with extra threads if you want it shorter. Search up on them.
