a 2.8L is not as crazy about oil as the 1.8T's .. turbos love oil... while NA motors are less picky
I would still use a good syn, i dont know if the 2.8L have a diferent weight but 1.8T's use 5W-40
I dont know if the 2.8L are as prone to sludge as the 1.8T's either.
anyway, just spend a few $$ more on a decent filter/oil and you should be good.
dont buy some 2$ oil/filter
