Default Steering Wheel Controls

Dumb question from a newbie A4 owner. I bought a nice 2002 A4 without a owner's manual.

What are the two controls on the steerign wheel with a "+" and "-" on them. They do absolutely nothing.

They are for the Tiptronic gear shifting. If you switch the shifter into Tip mode the buttons will light up and you can use them to control the cars shifting.

hah its always nice finding that out isnt it? I thought they were broken radio tuner buttons when i test drove my audi for the first time. I dont even think i figured out what they were for until after I bought it. So dont feel dumb.
