Hey guys. I searched the forums here regarding this but most of the threads I found had to do with either cars equipped with the BOSE system or the newer A4s with the Symphony systems. Mine has neither (99 A4 1.8TQ).
I'm in the process of upgrading the stereo system in the car but I want to keep the factory head unit. I'm going to replace the factory speakers and add an aftermarket amp to drive them. A sub will also be in the plans in the near future.
I found this product on Crutchfield that should allow me to hook up an aftermarket amp to the stock head unit.

I haven't looked at the back of the factory radio yet to know if I can use it or not. Has anyone had any experience with this product or something similar? How's the sound quality?

if you can do electrical stuff all you need to do is solder a set of female rca's in to the rear output for the sub you dont need an adapter

I'm in the same situation. I have a 2001 a4 with the bose system. I want to keep the stock HU and replace the bose speakers with some new ones. I have an infinity REF7541A 520 Watt 4-channel amplifier. I want to put component speakers in the front and replace the speakers in the back and power it with this amp. The component speakers I want to get in the front are the Infinity KAPPA PERFECT 5.1 5-1/4" Component System. I'm not sure what speakers to go with for the back but I want to replace them. Will this setup work? What speakers do you recommend for the back door speakers? (I want to stick with infinity) The main thing is that I want to get a good sound and keep the stock HU because i don't like the way it would look for an aftermarket HU. What would I need to do to power the component speakers with that 4 channel amp. DO i need to buy anything besides brackets? Is it just splicing the speaker wires from the stock HU to to the amp/speakers? I also plan on getting another amp to run a sub off of later on. Thanks for any help guys.
