Many radio stations send out secondary information signals with the radio call letters, type of music they play, and or the name of the song currently playing.

+1 Most stations broadcast the song's info in a coded form. The RDS just reads that code displays the info.

LOL, When i was driving home with my car after buying it, there was all this german writting scrolling across the radio and I was like wtf this car better not be talking shi! to me in another language.
