STILL Misfiring after new coil pack and plugs
Mass air flow sensor by unplugging it the ecu goes into a closed loop program.I doubt it is theMAF.Check cylinders 2 and 3 for spark by removing the spark plug wire and plug from the cylinders and holding them close enough to make a good ground on the motor, the spark shouldarc when the spark plug gets close enough to create a ground, if not replace the wires. I was trying to figure out if it was a fuel problem with the rpm but I don't think it is.
Hi all. I was wondering what came of this? I just had my tranny rebuilt on a 2000 4.2 A6 becasue i lost reverse and now it's misfiring like crazy. Warms up very very rough and then CEL. If I'm driving, while making a turn I hit the gas and nothing for 2-3 secs, then it kicks in. I was going to replace the plugs but now you have me thinking it could be something else. Any suggestions?
ok, first of all dont fo running around and buying things.
what are the four strokes that require combustion to ocour
fuel/air
compression
combustion(spark)
exhaust
one of those is not happening
swap injectors from a diffrent cylinder and replace with the misfiring thats for fuel and air
do a compression test its okay if you dont know what its supposed to be you can do this the oddman out way check all of them and if its obviouisly off then youmighthave a pricy fix if itand to see if its itdoa test to make sure if its the rings thyeres a quick way just pour a little oil on theyre that should close the gap in theyre is a badcompression ring
spark we can give it the bennift of the doubt since you replace plugs and coil packs
exhaust well it cant be it because all the above steps would have to occour inorder for this to happen

My old a4 was doing the same thing. I needed to change the maf sensor and it worked great. I would def try and replace that. I had a local shop let me test a new one out to see if that was the prob try and find someone that will do that if you can.
