i jsut picked up a 97 turbo and plan on putting the chip in it. its got 97k miles on it already and im sure the previous owner never let it cool before completely shutting off the engine.

what i woul dlike to know is when i get the chip installed, do i or shoul di purchase the turbo timer anyway or since the car is pretty old, i shouldnt bother with it???

there is no real NEED for a turbo timer. Just take a few minutes and let the car cool down after a hard run.

You don't have to unless you have had a hard run.

its not too bad to let your car idle after running it, just sit in it listen to music or just get out of the car and have a smoke, its not really a pain for me.

The way turbos are designed with the way the oil system and cooling system run that all you need to do is drive it normal. It will cool itself down enough to shut off properly. The turbo timer is sort of a lost cause for some people. More of a, "Hey your car is still running." thing than anything else. If you have one you know what I am talking about.

I bought a turbo timer as one of my first things. Wish I spent that money on something more worth while.
