Well they are easy to sell on ebay or the 12valve forum on audiworld. I'm sure he would only loose like 20 bucks or so.
yeah thats true.. I guess it all comes down to the fact that if he gets these tools can he get the job done. Not trying to doubt you or anything DJ.. but you might spend the money on the tools, and still not be able to do it, and end up still having to take it to the shop.. best of luck though!! Hope you get it done!!

U might be able to pull the valve cover and index the cams from the tdc mark on the back of each cam, otherwise cant u line up the tdc marks on both cam gears, and the crank pulley to there propper tdc, then find in the bently the amt of teeth b/w the cam gears and continue from there? I dont really see the issue and I'm assuming its a 2.8 which I really have no experience with

Is your crank off , or just the cams? Sounds like both. go with what TommyBoy said and line the gears up with the mark on the head/valvecover or index them from the inside. (not very familiar w/ 2.8's). the crank might be a bit more tough. I know they make a TDC tool, but I don't know which cyl you should be using. Best of luck!
