Default Stock Symphony Radio Trouble

As I posted a while back, I had a problem with my 6cd change getting jammed. Audi replaced it for a new one, and the problem went away (still have yet to get my cd's back...).

Anyway, now with the "new" deck I get very poor reception. I'm pretty good with stereo equipment, both OEM and aftermarket, but have yet had time to pull this one apart and investigate. I hardly get any stations (one or two with poor reception) and was initially thinking that the antenna lead was loose/unplugged. I called Audi for their two cents and they said that the receiver is actually a separate unit? Is that true? I'm going to try to pull it this weekend and get familiar with it but I wanted some input before doing so.

What are your thoughts? (2002 a4)
