Default story along with a weird clutch problem...

well i had some very wierd clutch problems friday night. well every friday and saturday night, street racers meet at this lubys and shell near my house. well i went there around 1 oclock and met this dude with a sweet silver s4 pushing 500 horses. we started talking about our audis and ****. then a bunch of ricers pull up and they wanna race on this road. so i follow them to the site and we sit and chill as others race. then this one ***** asks to race. he had a black integra with a swap having an integra type r motor. he was an ******* thinking i didnt know **** on how to race. well we pull up to the line, this was my first drag race with some1 i didnt know. i can launch her pretty well but i wasnt paying attention and fuvcked up. he beat me of course. the second and last race, i start off with a kick *** launch but the ******* had his ebrake on. well when i was driving down the road, all hell broke loose and i felt my clutch slip. i was like OMFG what have i done. i drive back and start bitching. the guy with the s4 drove it just to make complete sure it was the clutch, which it was. im just completely panicing because i just got the clutch put in a few weeks ago. and then me and the s4 owner started to think that it was the flywheel. after panicing, i asked for a ride in the bad *** machine. that thing is a complete beast. he downshifted from 3rd to 2nd and i almost **** myself. we went from 35 to 80 in i swear a second or a second in a half. then we almost hit some bucks crossing the road but we didnt cuz of his kick *** big brake kit. then he drops me off at the site and goes to waffel house. it is about 3 now. we head off to taco bell and i notice no slippage at all. i even stop at a light and launch with no problems. after lauching it a few more times and be kinda rough, it starts slipping again. wtf is going on. it hasnt slipped since, but i think i could get it to if im hard on it. can some one please tell me what is going on. thanks.

I think it was explained fairly clearly. Pads fade when they get hot, clutches slip when they get hot. If you want to occaisionally race, get an aftermarket clutch.

you gotta baby the clutch for like at least 500 miles. And did you get ur flywheel replaced as well when you did the clutch?

I explained this on another board.

Ignore if you already broke it in but.....

You MUST break in your clutch. Failing to do so will result in a glazed disc. A glazed disc attributes a "glazed" friction surface, due to improper break in or excessive heat, which will not allow it to engage properly and result in slipping.

If it's only when it's hot, give it time to rest between races or whatever you do.

I see it's a SPEC S1, which has plenty of holding power for a pretty much stock 1.8T. So no offense, but I don't think you broke it in correctly.

If you were babying it before and you weren't really hard on it, it should be alright. Give it some more miles before you start launching or any type of hard acceleration.
