I've recently noticed a knock on my car when decelerating in 2nd. I'm thinking its a worn mount, or something to do with engine movement. Anyone have a better idea?

have some one rev it up while you look around the motor for any thing unusual

 

Just revved it. No oddities, but that was sitting still obviously, in neutral...

 

Only happens in second when decelerating? No other gears. Sounds like a bad coast side on the second gear set.

 

Actually I have indeed noticed it in other gears now that I'm listening for it more. I hope its a mount or something... not the trans

 

Does it knock once, or continually with the speed of the vehicle or engine?

 

It knocks a couple of times, not in sync though with the engine speed, sometimes its like a knock... knock knock sound...

I'm going to jack up the car this weekend and check out the underside.

I think the problem your describing is similar to the problem I'm experiencing. Sounds like something (probably the engine) is shifting. Mine does this on acceleration too.... Haven't had it looked at yet but I've been drivining with it like that for two months with nothing major hopefully just an engine mount.... :-(

 

did you also check your transmission mounts? mine was making a metal knocking sound on upshifts and downshifts as well as on bumps. the transmission mount was cracked and the two broken parts were banging together.
