I did the same thing on my non-bose stock headunit and didn't really like the sound, so I just got an Alpine headunit. Night and Day difference.

There is a pretty decent writeup over on AW. This is one of my projects for the summer as I have the amp and the sub, just waiting to put it in.

Stay away from hi/lo converters - they negatively impact sound quality and there's no need to use them. There's been some good discussions on this topic in this forum, such as this one.

Do you happen to know how much power the stock amp deliver to all the 4 speakers? I am planning to upgrade the stock speakers (and powered sub)and I wanna find out if the stock amp would have enough power or if I need to upgrade the amp too. btw it's the concert hu.
