Default sunroof motor

just a quick question, i havent searched (sorry), but if anyone has a quick link where i can find an OEM sunroof motor - the dealer quoted me $501for one - righttelling me the warranty would cover it, then looked it up and quoted the delivery date of the car as 1/31/03 when the warranty book is stamped and penned in 6/12/03 for delivery andwarranty effective date. anyone know where i can find out for sure when the warranty started? i know it goes 4 yrs or 50,000 but its barely been over 4 years and i only have 27,000. i got the car in January 07.

I'm confused... so you only have 27k... but the warranty is out of date due to years? So they won't cover your sunroof.. thats a bummer man. I'm not sure about the OEM sunroof but thats retarded... a car with 27k shouldn't have a dead sunroof.

Show them the warranty book and argue with them.
Contact the original dealer to confirm the warranty effective date.

did they make an attempt to clean the contacts, or did they just tell you that it needed a new motor?
the dial sunroof controls are notorious for getting dirty, but work like new after a little tlc (open it up, blow it with air, contact cleaner, etc.)

they just said it needed a new one, it still opens and closes(eventually) but when i just put it up, it closes down and takes like 5 or 6 times before i stays up.

if you want places for sunroof motors, try shokan.com and LKQcorp.com

but: there are three common problems w/ sunroof:
- the controls work fine but it gets stuck along the sliding tracks as it goes front and back: (you need to clean and re-grease the rails)
- you push the button to pop it up or turn the dial to slide it back and the motor makes its noise but nothing happens
- the sunroof only works when it wants to: you try the controls several times before anything happens, no motor sounds or anything, it just doesnt seem to be alive. and it will do its own thing, as in close on its own or whenever you hit a bump.

it sounds like youare the in the third category (as i was too very recently.) if so, i would take the time to do this before i bought a new motor:
