this may help:
So why is the K04 so much less expensive than other turbo options? The actual cost of the K04 unit is only marginally less than competitive turbo units. The real savings of the K04 kits is in its design as a direct replacement of the K03, which means labor to install it is at a minimum and it does not require a new turbo manifold; this is where the costs start to build. Because the K04 is a direct replacement to the K03, the only additional part necessary to install a K04 is the factory gasket. However, getting it to run right will require a revised engine management program and a 5 bar fuel pressure regulator. On the other hand a larger more sophisticated turbo upgrade will consist of an improved turbo charger requiring a new turbo manifold, which will also require an upgraded chip, fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, spark plugs, a front mount intercooler, and sometimes-higher performance drive train components to handle the power. Rightfully so, the cost of a new turbocharger and manifold upgrade is well justified.
For its simplicity the K04 is a solid street performer. On a similar 1.8T platform the K04 is rated 225 hp with mild chip tuning from the factory in the TT and of course chip tuners like GIAC have already increased power output to the neighborhood of 250+ ponies. Appearance wise the K04 maintains the factory looks of the K03, however the outlet housing of the K04 and turbine blades have been modified for increased volume and pressure output. On an A4/Passat 1.8T the turbo outlet is measured to be 3mm larger in diameter with a more aggressive turbine pitch to increase efficiency higher in the RPMs. These modifications make it possible to maintain both increased psi and sustain a greater volume of air in the upper regions of the rpm spectrum where the K03 simply runs out of steam. Additionally, the increased power output with K04 remains within the limitation of the stock drive train requiring no change in clutch or transmission hardware.
So who supports the K04? Although the K04 is not necessarily every tuners first choice in turbo upgrade options, nearly every bigwig tuner supports it and this translates into plenty of options and competitive prices. If you want to go with the bare minimum or all out, there is a K04 kit available. Below is a listing of tuning shops that offer a K04 variation for the A4. Respectively, these kits are also available for most 1.8T variations such as the New Beetles, Golf/Jetta IV's and Passat B5's.

i dont know anything about the turbo, but i kno a $5000 supercharger will give u 290ish horsepower. make sure the problem with the shocks isnt the problem the upper or lower control arms. i had a problem with them on mine and it was a rough ride and tons of noise, so make sure its not the control arms.
Do you have a V6? i dont think they make a supercharger for the 1.8T. that would be sick though, using the supercharger to spool the turbo charger. talk about some sick noise too.
I am running a ported and polished and a 10 degree clipped KO4. i like it because its not instantly jumpy like the T3. it has a smooth delivery spread equally along the power band. personally i think its worth it. and you can buy one for $650- $750 on eBay.
