I know this question was most likely asked already. I have a 98 audi a4 2.8 tiptronic, i was wondering if an s4 engine with 6 spd. tranny will fit in with no problems. if it is how much would any body recken it would cost to install. sum say it would be cheaper to just get an s4. but my cars payed for and the car would be lighter than an s4 and id be payin insurance for an a4 2.8 not an s4

It would cost you double what your car is worth. (if you diy, and dont count downtime)

Just buy an s4, its a bargain compared to what you are contemplating, and you wont have to do all the work.

And, you wont be commiting insurance fraud.

JK. this has been talked about, for the money def. not worth it. either get and s4 or spend the money on your car which i dont suggest because its tip and i own 2001 tip a4. so either drive ur car make it look nice, or sell it or trade for stick 1.8t or get the s4 if u have the money. common sense, instead of spending all that cash to transform you car into the s4 performance with the s4 motor and not knowing if everything will work correctly because your car is not a s4, save your self a headache/problems, just purchase s4 and dump ur cash in to that then you will be even faster
