Best Buy have all the tools for to pull just about every radio. They replace radios all the time. I took my A4 to the radio guys @ BB and they pulled if for free so I could get the serial no# to give to Audi USA who pinged the radio to reset it. Simple as that. Audi USA will need the VIN and they will ask a few questions for proof of ownership of the car.

 

I have a 2001 A4 and need help with my radio code i pulled the radio out and got the AUZ num, it keeps saying "SAFE" i have the vin# and radio number can anybody help?

 

As of December 2013, they are still doing this. They are literally happy to give you the code.

In my case, the code still didn't work -- they had the same code on file as I had, so I suspect the radio was swapped after manufacture. (I'm the second owner.)
