As far as I know Audi has been recommending synthetic since at least the late 1990s. I've been running it in my cars for the last 20 years. It's well worth the extra cost because of the fuel savings and the longer engine life.
really better fuel economy.

I just got my oil changed yeterday ironically, I did the standard $39.99 oil change from valvoline 3000k miles. I never go over always get it changed at 3000k and it seems to be fine.

Make sure there is no sludge in the engine and use synthetic oil.

why is this thread retarted?
why do people just read the title and praise synthetic oil?..... NO **** ITS BETTER!
I am looking at buying an 2000 S4, it does not have the earliest service records... these oil changes would have been done by the dealer... I want to know if dealers knew to use synthetic back when this car was new, because synthetic was not used on my mom's 2001 VAG 1.8t by the dealer.

AutoRX can be used with synth - it just needs a longer duration, maybe 1k more on the clean and rinse.
