Default Tach falls to zero, indicator lights flicker

My gf has a 99 A4 V6 and recently it has been acting strange. The car drives and idles fine but will occasionally do the following: the ABS indicator will light up solid, the tach will fall to zero, the brake indicator will flash and, the oil pressure indicator will flash. There is also a beeping that goes along with all this. Like I say, the car will still be running, the engine doesn't stall or stumble, the transmission will shift fine and everything else is as usual. After some time all the above symptoms will cease. I don't have a FSM or Haynes/Chilton manual for her car but intend to get one to help with the diagnoses. I called the dealer today and they didn't have a clue other than to $bring $it $in. Has anyone had a similar experience or know what I may want to check? Btw, there are no CEL/MIL's. Thanks for any input.

hmm yeah if the engine isnt dropping in RPM's could be a number of things.. but if your RPM's drop it could be a bad alternator.. mine did that.
