Would it be possible to swap my 1.8T with a 2.0T out of a wrecked golf gti? The engine size and layout looks pretty similar, one really major difference is the addition of a another intercooler. The lifters in my 1.8T are making a lot of noise, it could be the wrong oil weight ( changed oil about 800mi ago) or it could be the fact that the engine is possibly giving out,if that is the case id possibly want to go for a 2.0T, get 200hp off the bat. Im just wondering weather or not this sort of swap is possible.

 

i dont think it would work because you would be going from a longitudinal to a transverse (or vice versa) motor. the layout would be different.

 

the B7 A4's have the same setup, im just wondering how much would such an engine cost and weather it would hook up (putting into consideration that it is the correct format engine )

 

the B7 has the same engine placement as the B5 and B6 which is longidutinal(sp)

while the golf, jetta and A3 TT have the transveral


if u got the money it might work
the B7 passat which is the same chassis as the A4 has a VR6 3.6 which is in set in the transveral position
but if u want to do a 2.0T sway get the A4 2.0T

 

mechanically it might be easy but how are u gonna program that thing
