Default IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH MY TURBO, OR LEAK?

Hey i was wondering if this is normal or not. I have a 1998 audi a4 1.8t 5speed, the mods i have done are, APR 1 bar chip, FMIC, Intake, Baileys Motorsports DV, and exhaust. So here is the question: when i take off in first the boost goes up to 15psi but then starts to drop off fast before i have to shift to second, then when i shift to second the same thing happens the boost goes to 15psi and starts to drop of before i have to shift to third. It holds 15psi all the way through 3rd,4th, and 5th. Also the car feels slow for all the mods it only runs a 15.6, and my buddy has a 97 1.8T 5speed with just the chip running a 15.2.

thanks, Phillipe

EDIT: i guessi should also say you can edo a pressure test. its in teh DIY section i think. or is there is a loud wshhhhhhh noise when you are accellerating, then thats prod a leak. or if the guage bounces around a bit it could be a bad n75 valve or a bad wastegate (what i think i have right now)

well i have a quattro with exaust and chip adn i ran 15.6 at best.

here it goess...

chipped boost should be 18-21 bdetween 3&4k. after 4k it should drop off to 10 ish by redline.

a lot of drags has to do with how well you drive also, so thats one.

Yeah, driving does have to do alot with drags but ive driven his car and ran a 15.3, so its not bad driving. Do you think the FMIC might be the reason im only getting 15psi and not 18-21, or might i have a boost leak.

if you got a crappy fmic, your pressure drop could be that much

I dont think a crappy front mount would cause that great of a pressure drop, especially the way you describe it. I would agree with audicross and say that you have a boost leak or your wastegate is opening too early.

I was having the same problems. Here is a test some guy wrote up that helped me find my leak. Good luck.
