hi i was thinkin of purchasing an A4. the years i was lookin at was the 96-99 1.8T model. which model is the most compatible for mods? is there anything i should be aware of before purchasing one?

Try getting a 99.5 , most people say that is the best year.

 

they didnt release 1.8t's till 97

 

Timing belt change needed at 60k, Quattro is good.

 

the 1.8t has WAY more available mods than the 2.8
from 99 and up you get the good headlights
from 98.5 and up you get the good tail lights

things to look out for:
timing belt change 60-70k
oil sludge
warn tie rod ends
warn upper control arms
make sure the sun roof works
ummmmm im sure theres more stuff but i cant think of it now

 

^^do the sunroofs often get messed up in audi's, cause sometimes mine randomly opens, never really cared that much, jw if this happens to others
