I was listening to the car tonight and it sounds like the valves need adjusting or something, no quite sure but if anyone has any ideas.

 

Well is this a new thing? Audi's are quite known for having noisy valves. It's fairly normal. But if you are worried that it is not normal then have it checked out.

 

are they really, I havent paid much attention. Just the CEL then the noise. I mean, dang. what next, little munchkins crawlying out of my exhaust.

yep..my valves are pretty noisy too.

 

In a year that I owned my car (2001 1.8TQ) it always had a very noisy valve. At times I thought I was driving a diesel. A few months ago the noise turned really loud that I just have to get it checked. it turned out I needed a new cam shaft tensioner. Now, the car has no more noise.

I have an 3 litre 04 A4 with only 8k miles and its always had valve ticking noises when i start it up cold. even when it heats up it ticks slightly. i of course took it to the delaer to have it checked and they handed me a print out from audi explaining that its normal. doesnt seem normal to me but they say it is.

 

Hey Jestnomen...how long till I qualify for the munchkins in the exhaust????....that sounds like a pretty pimp mod....lol

 

Does anyone know If they are adjustable, solid/hydrolic, any other stuff.
