tie rod ends replacement

Default tie rod ends replacement

Hi,

i need to replace my tie rod ends on both front tires. does anybody have any information on it? if anybody's done it before, i'd appreciate a tip or two to make like easier for me.

I would contact audi before you do it yourself, there was a recall on my mine.

mine is not up for a recall.
i'd like to do it myself. unless it requires some special tools or something?

the tie rod ends were never on a recall for the a4's

contol arms yes tie rod ends no also before I get in trouble it wasn't a recall on the arms either it was a service action the difference between the 2 a recall they have to replace somthing a service action theyonly replace something if something is wrong with that part

You'll have to get an allignment after the replacement.

yeah the dealership told me about the alignment needed after the job.
thanks jetsnomem for the link to the audiworld article.
i'll try it out this saturday. hopefully the winter storms will leave cali by then.

Alright, I have attempted a tie rod replacement and ran into an issue. My tie rod required the arm puller for removal, it did not come out easy. The new tie rod does not want to go in, I have tried several angles, wiggling, and adjusted the distance between the lock nut.

Any suggestions for installing the new tie rod?
