Is the car an auto or manual? With an auto, there is no load on the engine when the belt snaps. But most likely the valves have been bent. Pistons should be ok, but you can see this when the head comes of to rebuild the valves. Now is the time to put on the new water pump and all the other goodies from the timing belt kit. How many miles on the car?
