Torque conveter controlled by a Brake light switch F
Does anybody have an idea about a faulty brake light switch in relation to the torque converter? Reason being is that I have been experiencing multiple problems with my transmission, shifting related, and alsomalfunctioning cruise controland have ran multiple vagcomscans and the onlyfaults I receive is a faulty brake light switch. I will be replacing this switch to see ifI get expected results.
So with a faulty brake light switch that would not trip some sort of limp mode or trigger fowl ecu readings? The reason I am persuing such fault is b/c the last note I made while cruise controlWAS functioningis that the car was performingand operatinggreat. When scanningand clearing the faultwith vagcom car would resume to exceptionalbehavior for awhile only resuming back to it's normal being, shifting quickly, erratic vibrations at idle and hard gear selectionswhen changing gears; (ie. P to D).While driving in tip-mode, transmission reacts and performs great.
What the brake light switch could do is freak out the brake electronics into engaging the ABS and making the car feel like its shifting wrong. The brake light switch can mask, and cause all kinds of problems so replace it asap.
Ok guys, tonight I replaced my brake light switch. I cleared my 00526 fault code and took for a test drive only to find the same damn fault code came up again! When installing the new switchI did take notice of another similiar switch right above the one I replaced...??? Itwas white in color rather thanthe black oneIreplaced and led over to my center console, possibly for the gear selector switch? Not sure ifTHIS was the one I wassuppose to replace; not sure what each one is assigned to control either. Regardless Iam now back to square one with the code. All brake lights work fine along with the gear selector; cruise control is stillinoperable. Also, whileI had my lower dash removed I took notice of the bigger fuse block panels to the right of thenormalaccessible fuse panel. I DO NOT have a fuse in the number 72 slot of this larger panel. I am not sure if there is suppose to be one installed or not. If anyonecould check on this it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
The brake light switches vary in color, because they keep updating them cause the suck! [:'(]
If your getting the same fault code you broke it, its easy to break em too, techs do it everyday.
Try to take it back to the dealer and tell them the taillights stays on after i installed it and they should give you another one.
Its the switch right above the brake pedal BTW, the one above the clutch pedal isn't the one you need.

I have an automatic; there are two identical sensors located on top of each other. I replaced the lower switch which had a vacuum line running into it. I specifically followed the procedures on installing this bad-designed piece of junk, carefully, so that I would not damage it. Maybe I will replace both of them next.
