was on the freeway when i suddenly lost all power, then a loud thud and the tranny re-engaged then another thud as if the axles had locked. I immediately put the shifter and neutral and rolled from my speed of 120km. The engine runs fine but all i get is 10kms and the tranny downshifts. Well i guess it doesn't take a genius to say the tranny's busted!! what are my options? can it be repaired?? it's a 1998 1.8t with a tiptronic tranny. Help!! the car is in Trinidad! where in the world (and i mean where in the world) can i get one to buy/parts etc.

Check the fluid first. I took my car a few places that told me my **** was broke and needed replaced. I then convinced someone to check the fluid and it was 2 1/2 qts low. Dontknow how why where or what but it was. (I just got it) Well... put some fluid in it and it runs like a champ.

 

more info required is there gearbox oil all over??
