ya lifetime as in the lifetime of the transmission until it eventually goes due to never changing the fluid

I most people start thinking about tranny flushes around the 100K mark. Don't think it's an easy DIY. Lots of people say it's worth it, since they usually have a problem with the tranny (slow, making noise) which forces them to have the work done.

Some people will say a flush will actually shorten the overall life of the transmission. Something about how the system becomes "used" to working with older fluid. The fluid will eventually pick up little metal shavings from inside the mechanism, but I don't really know the details.

Drain and fill the pan at about 80K and very 40 to 60K thereafter. Not an easy DIY, but a garage will do i for 60 bucks, of which 20 is the cost of fluid.

yea dont DIY because i tried doing it on my 99 1.8T and it didnt work out so good......its best to take it a shop and have them do it because you gotta refill the fluid at a certain time and temp., just pain in the butt......even tho audi says it should never be flushed, its a must at about 100k......
