Default tranny help please.

i posted something similar but now that i have had the car for a few weeks i can talk better about the "possible" problem. ok, when i shift from 1 to 2 when i let off clutch and give it gas again the shifter moves toward 1st gear again like an 1" to and 1-1/2" and you can feel a bump when it engages. other gears you dont feel the bump as much but the shifter moves again like an 1" or so in every gear when i give it gas again. is this something i need to take it to the dealer for or am i just being a newbie worry wart?! the car is a 2002 a-4 1.8t quattro with a 5-speed (no mods), low miles only 37,400 miles. the car looks flawless and drives flawless except for this.

The tranny and some internal parts flex when power is trasmitted to it and ive heard its pretty normal. I had the same thing with my old rx7 and it was fine for the whole time i owned it. It MAY be a sign of slightly worn synchros but thats just how it goes sometimes, how many miles are on your car?
I really wouldnt worry about it.

yea but if a syncro was bad it would go in and out of the gears hard, and or would pop out of gear, check your tranny mount make sure the bolts are tight or if the mount or rubber bushing has any wear

i have had other cars with synchro problems and going into the gear would bump regaurdless if i were into the gas yet or not. this is already in gear and only does it when the gas is engaged and the clutch is all the way out. weird huh!? im starting to think it is the tranny mount thing...where and how can i see it on these cars?

The mechanic I talked to said A4 didn't have synchros, but some kind of chain system. He wouldn't go into detail so maybe just smoke and mirrors.

tranny mounts. sounds like to me. sounds like the power train is moving without the rest of the car. doesn't sound like anything you have to worry about too much at this point. I've never owned a stick that the shifter didn't move a little after engaging the clutch and putting power to it. 1 1/2" seems a little farther than it really should move, but again, i wouldn't worry about it at this point.
