This weekend I'm going to drive my A4 1.8 TQM on a long drive (550 miles) with a noisy bearing in the tranny that started to fail from lack of oil. Decided to drain and refill with Mobil 1 synthetic 75W90. It is somewhat quieter, in fact it seems to be barely audible since I topped it off with regular gear oil but I think the damage has been done. I cannot afford a new transmission[:@] If this thing dies, perhaps I'll look for a six speed unit if it will fit my 2000. Is it possible to change to a 6 speed unit?
