Default Tranny Problem?

Just today I was my check engine light went on. Shortly after, at every light I stopped at the car felt like it was going to stall.
Then about 5 min later the tranny seem to be dragging and was at about 3k rpms at 45-50 mph. THEN on the instrument cluster all
gears were lit up??? I do have an oil leak( dont know where it is from) i recently changed the collant expansion tank due to a leak.

Where do I begin to start?????

Thanks

Sounds like your tranny died. My gf had a 94 jetta that did the EXACT same thing. The transmission shop told me that when all the gear lights light up its the cars way of indicating the tranny is totally gone. Time for a rebuild perhaps.

Have it VAGed. The Tiptronic computer may have codes.

Sounds like you have mutliple problems.

The CEL is unlikely to be related to the Transmission. All the gears lighting up is a signal that the tranny has been put in LIMP mode and will only give you Park, 4th gear and reverse.

You will likely need to have both the engine and transmission control modules scanned for codes. Find someone with a real vagcom.
