So I bought my wife an A4 with some issues, main one being the trans is bad. I have search and searched but I'm having issues even finding info for the auto trans in the A4. So I created this post for 2 reasons 1 is to find out whether the tip trans from an s4 will work with a 1.8t and 2 where do I find more info on the automatic trans in the b5 A4? if it will bolt on I will get the trans, tcm, and shifter


this is my first audi, but have owned a few vw's and own 4 vw's currently so I know a my way around a wrench. but know nothing of quattro and audi so I have some learning to do. oh and this is my first 1.8t, I like my vr6's.

my car is a 97 1.8tq auto
tip trans is out of 01 s4 2.7tq

after some more searching I found out that the trans code was in the spare tire well in the trunk, DKB is my code. and after some more searching I found that this code is for a 01V? So my trans is a DKB 01V 300 042C. The trans in a S4 is still a quattro 01V, so as long as I get the other parts this trans should bolt up to mine and work, correct?

 

well I guess I'll be the guinea pig and let you guys know how it turns out.
